Castle of Penyafort

This is a heritage site like few others in Penedès, from an architectural and historic point of view, as well as the information centre for the Foix Park. This castle, converted into a convent, is where Saint Raymond of Penyafort was born, confessor of kings and popes.

The castle, built in the 10th century, became a convent at the beginning of the 17th century as a result of the canonisation of an illustrious person born here: Raymond of Penyafort, confessor of Pope Gregory IX and James I the Conqueror. Saint Raymond of Penyafort is the patron saint of lawyers.
